Indian Judicial System is the Paramount institution of the world’s largest democracy. Its purpose is to give justice to innocent and punish the wrongdoer. As an institution, the Indian judiciary has always commanded considerable respect from the people of the country. The roots of this high regard lies in the independence, impartiality and integrity of the members of the judiciary. Yet pendency of Lakhs of cases is the matter of serious concern. Shortage of judges, infrastructure and Lack of Transparency has been highlighted as one of the major reasons for the same. Undeniably corruption and counsel-side delays are other well-Known reasons for prolonged delay. To mitigate such delays, there is a need for more transparent and accountable judicial system.
